Helping Youth Heal, Grow, and Succeed

The Marsh Foundation’s Clinical Services are designed to support youth and families in overcoming emotional and behavioral challenges through compassionate, evidence-based care. Services typically begin with a referral from a court system, social service agency, or private party. From there, licensed clinicians conduct a thorough diagnostic assessment, including an in-depth, face-to-face clinical interview, to better understand each individual’s strengths, needs, and goals.

Together with the client, our team develops a personalized Individual Service Plan (ISP) that outlines treatment objectives, expected length of care, and measurable outcomes. Plans may include individual counseling, group therapy, family services, community-based support, or home-based interventions.

Our clinical team has specialized experience in working with youth facing complex mental health needs, including those with attachment disorders, dual diagnoses (such as co-occurring intellectual and mental health disorders), and trauma disorders. With a deep commitment to healing and growth, The Marsh Foundation helps youth build the skills and resilience needed to thrive in their families, schools, and communities.

Plans can include individual counseling, group counseling, family services, community support programs and/or home-based services. Children that benefit from Clinical Services are behaviorally and emotionally challenged and/or are diagnosed with mental disorders. In addition, Marsh counselors specialize in reactive attachment disorder, dual diagnosis (intellectual disabilities and mental health) and bipolar disorder.

The Clinical Department

The Clinical Department

The Marsh Foundation offers an array of clinical services to children and families. Services can include individual counseling, group counseling, family services, community support programs and home-based services. In addition, The Marsh offers specialized psychosexual assessments for male juvenile sex offenders. After being admitted into The Marsh’s JSO program, the youth begins to receive intensive treatment. The program includes group therapy sessions several times a week as well as intensive individual counseling focusing on the youth’s individualized treatment plan.

Trauma-Informed Care

The clinical staff, as well as the group home staff at The Marsh Foundation, have undergone a variety of training relating to Trauma-Informed Care. Understanding traumas that have occurred to  children and the effects on their brains, help The Marsh staff to better facilitate treatment and achieve success and progress with the youth in the clinical and home settings.

A Continuum of Care for Youth Empowerment and Growth

At The Marsh Foundation, we are dedicated to offering a comprehensive continuum of care that supports the emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs of youth across all of our group home programs. Through individualized, compassionate clinical services, we empower youth to overcome challenges, develop essential life skills, and prepare for brighter futures.

Youth begin with a thorough assessment, which includes an intensive face-to-face clinical interview to understand their unique needs. From there, an Individual Service Plan (ISP) is created, in partnership with the youth, that outlines treatment goals, expected outcomes, and actionable steps. Whether through individual therapy, group counseling, family services, or community-based programs, our clinical services help youth build the emotional strength and social skills needed to thrive in their families and communities.

The Marsh Foundation provides care across multiple group home programs, each designed to meet the unique needs of the youth we serve:

Marsh Hall focuses on intensive treatment for young males with high-risk sexual behaviors, offering a structured, therapeutic environment with a one-to-three staff-to-youth ratio. Here, youth receive individualized counseling and participate in groups that promote emotional development, social skills, and personal responsibility. The program is certified by Ohio's Department of Youth Services for sex offender treatment services, offering evidence-based strategies for youth who need specialized care. Youth in Marsh Hall do not have to be adjudicated.

Clymer Hall and Vance Hall offer similar levels of structured care but are tailored for youth who have behavioral and mental health needs that require intensive therapeutic intervention. These programs focus on helping youth develop coping mechanisms, improve social interactions, and enhance their emotional intelligence. Youth in these programs receive regular individual and group therapy to address their unique needs and personal growth.

As youth progress in their treatment, they may transition from group home care to our Foster Care Program, where they are placed in homes that continue to provide therapeutic support while helping them adjust to living in a more traditional family setting. Foster parents are specially trained to implement the treatment plan initiated in the group home, ensuring continuity in care and personal growth. Our foster and adoptive homes are dual-licensed, allowing families to provide both foster and potential adoptive placements for children in need.

The Marsh Foundation's clinical services are built on our mission to nurture, support, and empower youth at every stage of their journey. Whether in a group home, foster care, or specialized treatment program, we are committed to providing every young person with the resources, guidance, and opportunities they need to heal, grow, and thrive.

Clinical Services

Family counseling brings family members together with a counselor, therapist, or social worker to improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen relationships. This service focuses on understanding family dynamics and how interactions within the family impact each person’s emotional and behavioral well-being.

Intensive Home-Based Treatment (IHBT) is a comprehensive, family-focused behavioral health service delivered in a child or adolescent’s home and community. IHBT supports youth experiencing significant emotional or behavioral challenges by strengthening family functioning, improving coping skills, and helping youth remain safely in their homes and communities.

The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) provides structured behavioral health treatment for individuals who need more support than traditional outpatient therapy but do not require residential or inpatient care.

Participants attend multiple sessions each week that may include individual counseling, group therapy, psychoeducation, and skill-building activities. IOP primarily supports individuals working through substance use challenges but may also address mental health concerns. The program focuses on developing coping strategies, improving emotional regulation, and strengthening support systems so individuals can maintain stability in their home, school, and community environments.

Case management helps individuals and families access the resources and supports needed to improve overall stability and well-being. Case managers work closely with clients, families, and community partners to coordinate care, advocate for services, and address barriers to treatment. Services may include connections to education supports, medical care, housing resources, employment opportunities, and community programs.

The Anger Management Group helps participants understand the root causes of anger and develop healthy ways to manage emotional responses. Through structured group sessions, participants learn skills such as emotional regulation, impulse control, conflict resolution, and effective communication. The group environment also encourages peer support while helping individuals recognize triggers and respond to difficult situations in constructive ways.

The Adolescent Recovery Group supports youth who are struggling with substance use or working to maintain sobriety. Participants explore how substance use affects mental health, relationships, and personal goals while building skills for healthy decision-making and coping. Group discussions and activities focus on self-awareness, peer support, and developing positive relationships that support long-term recovery.

This specialized group provides structured treatment for youth who have engaged in sexually harmful behaviors. The program focuses on accountability, understanding the impact of harmful actions, and developing healthy boundaries and decision-making skills. Participants learn about consent, empathy, impulse control, and relapse prevention while working toward positive behavioral change.

Individual counseling provides one-on-one therapeutic support for youth involved in sexually harmful behaviors. These sessions allow for deeper exploration of personal history, trauma, cognitive patterns, impulse control challenges, and risk factors. Treatment focuses on accountability, developing empathy, building healthy coping strategies, and supporting long-term behavioral change.

Equine Group sessions incorporate interactions with horses into therapeutic group activities designed to promote emotional growth and teamwork. Through structured activities, participants build trust, communication skills, and emotional awareness. Working with horses helps individuals develop confidence, patience, and problem-solving skills while gaining insight into their emotional responses.

Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) is an experiential program that uses guided activities with horses to support personal growth and skill development. Participants work with trained facilitators in hands-on learning experiences that promote leadership, communication, emotional regulation, and teamwork. The program encourages self-awareness and helps individuals recognize patterns in their behavior and interactions.
