Treatment Foster Care |
The Marsh Foundation's Treatment Foster Care Program provides services to youths and their families throughout Northwest Ohio and Northeast Indiana. Children served are typically between the ages of 7 and 17 with some exceptions. Most are in the temporary custody of various county Department of Job and Family Services offices and many have also been referred through the juvenile court system due to past behavioral problems. The goal of the program is to work directly with the youth and their families to help them learn to deal with the problems that brought the youth into foster care. In most cases the end result is the child returning to live with his/her natural or adoptive family. When this is not possible other goals are established such as preparing the youth for independent living or adoption.
The foster families are highly trained professional parents that utilize the Teaching-Family Model of care. They receive extensive training prior to having a youth placed in their home. They receive their license through the Ohio Department of Human Services. Each Professional Parent family is assigned a supportive consultant who is available to them 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The consultant helps plan the course of treatment for the youth, monitors the well being of both the youth and foster family, and is available in crisis situations.
The foster homes are located within a 100 mile radius of The Marsh campus in Van Wert, Ohio. Professional Parents can include married couples or single individuals. Professional Parents are substantially reimbursed for their services to children and for meeting training requirements. Reimbursement for services to a foster child varies depending on the needs of the foster child.
